Periodontal Disease

Perionditis is a disease that affects the gum tissue which supports your teeth. Perionditis can cause bad breath, painful pockets of swelling in the gums, loss of bone and ultimately leads to loss of some or all of an individual's teeth.

Periondontal disease is caused by a build up of plaque on the teeth. This collection of plaque causes gum tissue to swell and create pockets around the base of the tooth. The pockets created by this build of plaque continually become deeper, allowing more and more plaque to accumulate around the tooth. Eventually, the plaque continues to deepen and collect in the pockets around the tooth until it is lost.

The good news is that Periondontal disease is treatable. Good Periodontal care is has become very advanced in the recent years and there are many treatment options available.
